Eagan master bathroom remodel

A Great Master Bathroom Remodel Starts with a Great Design

When I first met with the homeowners to discuss their master bathroom remodel, the first question I asked was “What do you dislike about your bathroom?” This question started an incredible exchange of ideas on what the homeowner wanted in their Eagan Minnesota Bathroom transformation. After taking detailed measurements of the existing bathroom and pictures, the design process was started.

Country Creek Builders uses Chief Architect for our designs. This program will show homeowners a 3d view of their project, wall elevations, and cabinet detailed drawings. Once the design is completed, Chief Architect provides me with the square footage, linear footage, and materials required to complete your project. These numbers are what help me provide you with a detailed estimate.

Country Creek Builders believes in providing a detailed estimate to our clients. The only correct way to achieve this is the have a detailed design and plan. Without a detailed plan, any estimate would be a guess of the cost of a project. The design of this Eagan Minnesota bathroom included:

  • Custom Cabinetry
  • Custom flooring details
  • Electrical Layout

This design was then sent to Felder Electric, Designed Cabinets, and Credit River Granite for detailed pricing.

A Detailed Estimate Means Less Chance Of Unexpected Surprises

After Country Creek Builders received pricing from its suppliers and vendors; We drafted a detailed estimate. The estimate for the master bath project was ten pages long. You can expect a Country Creek Estimate to detail the tile materials separate from the tile labor; the plumbing fixtures separate from the plumbing labor, detailed cabinet pricing, detailed countertop pricing; permit fees, design fees, demo etc..

The first estimate that was presented had allowances for the plumbing fixtures, tile, and granite. The allowances gave the ability to make selections knowing exactly how their selections would impact the final cost of their project. Once the selections have been finalized, Country Creek Builders revises the estimate to reflect those selections. The design and estimating process takes time to complete, but we believe that the time should be spent first – rather than during the project.

Barrier Free Shower

During our first meeting; the owners expressed their desire to have a curbless walk-in shower without a shower door. Country Creek Builders has extensive experience in the design and installation of curbless showers. We use the Schluter System on all of our bathroom projects to ensure a waterproof, trouble-free shower. I trust the Schluter system so much, that we installed this system in my Son’s house, and in my own master bath remodel.

Bathroom Transformation

Country Creek Builders completely demoed the bathroom, removed a window so that a larger window could be installed, removed a soaking tub in order to make room for the walk-in shower; Moved the location of the toilet; removed the vanity and the tiled floor. After the demo was completed, the bathroom was re-wired, re-plumbed and then sheetrocked.

A Curbless Shower

In order to build a trouble-free curbless shower; Country Creek Builders lowered the subfloor in the shower area. Lowering the floor is required in order to get the correct pitch from the threshold of the shower to the drain. Rather than installing around the drain, we install a trench drain in order to ensure the water drains smoothly.

Country Creek Builders then installed Spokane Light Brown Matt 30 X 60 CM tile for the shower walls; Meram Blanc Carrara polished 30 X 45 CM tile for the bathroom and shower floor.

Custom Cabinetry

The owners wanted a make-up area that was separate from the vanity. Country Creek Builders designed a new make-up cabinet plus a custom vanity with matching mirror frames. The cabinets were paint grade cabinets with Maple melamine interiors; The doors were a flat panel door, and the drawers were soft close drawers; The color of the vanity and makeup counter was Sherwin Williams “Griffin”. As part of the design process – detailed cabinet drawings are produced so that the homeowner knows exactly what the cabinets will look like.

As you can see from the pictures of the is project -the design and estimating process is critical to ensure a project that meets the homeowner’s expectations.
