A Kitchen Expansion

When Country Creek Builders met with the Sanders family to discuss their kitchen remodeling project, it was clear that their existing kitchen was too small and cramped for their busy family’s lifestyle. The dining room off the kitchen area was not being utilized, giving us the option to expand the kitchen into this unused space.  Country Creek Builders determined that the wall between the kitchen and the dining room was a non-load bearing wall, making the expansion easier to accomplish.  We also determined that the flat ceiling in the kitchen was a false ceiling, giving us the option to vault the ceiling to match the adjacent dining room and family room.  By removing the flat ceiling we were able to use 42” upper cabinets giving the homeowners much needed additional storage space.

KEEPING THE HOMEOWNER INFORMED

Once Country Creek Builders completed the kitchen design, the project was scheduled and managed through our online project management system.  Country Creek Builders has invested in the latest technology to keep our customers informed and up to date with the status of their project.  Our client project management system stores all the specifics for each project including selections, drawings, permit information and the schedule.  This gives the homeowner the ability to access their project from any computer or mobile device.  Our crews complete daily logs and upload photos that are shared with the homeowner so they can follow the progress of their project even while away from home.

SCHEDULING

One of the biggest complaints that homeowners have with many contractors is that the project takes twice as long as promised.  At Country Creek Builders, we simply find this offensive. Country Creek Builders avoids this issue by scheduling the entire project before we even begin.  This detailed schedule is automatically shared with all our subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.   All our subcontractors and suppliers know weeks in advance when they are scheduled to be on site.  This process has kept our projects on schedule, and kept our homeowners happy.

THE FINAL KITCHEN DESIGN

The design for the Sanders Kitchen included Knotty Alder cabinets with raised panel doors # 5-90-500, Melamine soft close drawer boxes, and 3 ¼” crown molding finished with a custom stain.  A 42” raised snack bar was included in this kitchen – providing a place for the family to gather.  Part of the design concept included an entertainment bar area with two pantries for storage, a center bar with glass racks, stemware holders, and an under cabinet wine fridge.  The countertop selected was Artic White and the look was finished with a Volcano Brushed Amalfi Subway tiled backsplash.  Finally, a 6 ½” wide plank wood floor from ProSource Flooring was installed for a cohesive look throughout the kitchen.

LIGHTING – AN IMPORTANT PART OF ANY KITCHEN REMODEL

When Country Creek Builders designs a kitchen for our clients, lighting is a critical part of the design. It is common practice on kitchen remodels to add recessed lights and under cabinet lighting.  Country Creek Builders goes a step further and includes layered lighting in our kitchen remodeling projects and designs.  Layered lighting provides the homeowner the option to turn on different layers of lighting – depending on what is going on in the kitchen.  If you are preparing food, task lighting is a priority.  If the kitchen is not being used for food prep, then the homeowner has the option to utilize under cabinet LED tape lighting, toe-kick lighting, and in-cabinet accent lighting to create a warm and inviting room.
