Finished basement Lakeville MN

Basement Finishing Project

Take a look at the pictures of a basement project in Lakeville, Minnesota that the Country Creek Crew recently finished. This project involved removing two existing walls that separated the existing family room area from a storage area.

Floor Support

The homeowner’s had mentioned to me during the demo phase of this project that the existing floor for the main level family room was extremely bouncy. So, after removing the sheet rock and framing from the basement walls, We added five additional floor trusses in the ceiling of the basement area – to stiffen up the main level floor.

Wet Bar Addition

In order to add a wet bar, we had to jackhammer the concrete floor so that Joe, from Bovaag Plumbing, could add the new drains. We then framed the new walls, wired the new area of the basement, added heat supplies, and then sheet rocked the basement.  Since the family recently transferred from Texas, a custom Maple wet bar was designed with a special Texas touch – two Texas Stars where designed into the tops of the fluted stile’s in the back bar mirror area. The cabinets are made of Maple, with a natural stain and oil rubbed bronze hardware. The back bar included a wine rack with a glass rack, microwave storage area, and a center locking cabinet. The center of the back bar had an arched frame and a matching arched mirror. The front bar includes a sink, under cabinet fridge and a curved 42″ high bar top.

The two columns of stacked stone finish off the bar area. A ceiling radius arch creatively hides some needed duct work – giving this project the full attention that the family deserves for their basement finishing project.

Basement Finishing Project

Basement finishing ContractorIf you want to ensure that you hire the correct contract, Please read a letter that Country Creek Builders received from a homeowner in Cottage Grove.  We had just finished her basement, and she was kind enough to let us know how happy she was with my company.  This review was placed on Angie’s List.

On the surface, this project was finishing a basement.  To us, though, it was much more than that.  My sister and I wanted to combine households – which meant that this basement project was to be my home – a complete apartment with a garden view.  And of course, we had a budget.

Dan was the only contractor we talked to who took our budget seriously.  He provided a line item cost analysis so that we could see where to trim or to enhance.  He listened, made adjustments, and helped us to see the final project before he even started.  He provided a calendar detailing when work would be completed and was available by email or phone whenever we had questions.

The finished apartment is everything we had hoped for and more.  Patty found a way to include a laundry room, where before we thought the washer/dryer would be tucked into the furnace room.  Dave handcrafted a cat door into the furnace room that is perfect for the feline friends to enter and exit for feeding and litter.  Steve was tireless and always upbeat.  Dan created an architectural element in the main living area and bathroom to disguise heating ducts.  And Brittany’s tile work is beautiful.

The crew and subcontractors were professional, personable, and approachable.  They made every effort to control the chaos that is a normal part of construction and Dan supervised the progress closely.  We would not hesitate to recommend Country Creek Builders to anyone looking for a remodel or new construction.  We couldn’t  be happier with how it all turned out!
