Over the years, your house inevitably stays the same… but your preferences change every day. If you’re at a point where you want something completely different than what you first started with, you have a trusted team of professionals that you can count on to make your new vision a reality.
At Country Creek Builders, we combine our vast experience, skills, and knowledge with our impeccable customer service to fulfill any basement remodeling project that you have in mind, on time and on budget. This week, we’re featuring a full basement remodel we did on a beautiful home in Farmington. Take a look at how we remodeled this basement to its fullest potential, and helped the homeowners achieve the exact home they wanted in 2019:
Remodel of the Basement Main Area
Before we began, we talked to the homeowners about their overarching vision for the basement — they specifically wanted to turn this space into a stylish and contemporary area to relax, entertain, and enjoy their free time. First, we removed a 6’ patio door and installed a load bearing beam to replace it with a 12’ four-panel patio door, and installed beautiful hardwood floors throughout.
Of course, our work within the main area of the basement wasn’t finished. Because the homeowners were hoping for a reliable go-to for recreation and relaxation, we built a workout room with a sauna, so the homeowners could get their exercise in and unwind — just as if they were at a luxurious gym.
What better place for a spectacular master suite than a trendy, spacious basement? Situated away from the rest of the home, the homeowners loved the idea of having their personal oasis tucked into this space. After reframing the master bedroom, we moved on to the bathroom and installed a large, curbless walk-in shower with two recessed shelf niches, a beautiful tiled ceiling, and a luxurious soaking tub with tiled splash (including a “waterfall” deco) to the ceiling. No more spending money to get pampered at the spa… in this master bathroom, every day is spa-day.
A few bathroom specifics:
- Wall tile: Evoque Grigio Porcelain 31” X 31”
- Shower wall tile: Scuro Porcelain 12” X 24”
- “Waterfall” accent in shower/soaking tub tiled wall: Legno Stria with Glass 12″ X 12.5″
- Countertops: MSI Quartz Calacatta Vicenza
- Cabinetry: maple wood with slab doors and drawers
- Vanity: 10” recessed toe kick for a “floating” look, natural clear finish, 8” clear Knotty Alder shiplap above the vanity to the ceiling (stained to match the bar), two mirror frames
The Little Details
When it comes to any remodeling project, our team believes that the details deserve just as much attention as the big changes. In the main entertainment hub with the bar, couches, and flat screen TV, we knew that the “little” touches would make every moment in this space even more enjoyable.
In terms of the interior doors, we used a combination of two-panel Poplar doors for the swing doors, and five-panel A5 Poplar doors for the pocket doors. For the bar’s cabinetry, we installed Knotty Alder 2-step flat-panel doors with soft-close hinges and drawers, 3” cove molding, and floating shelves above the sink. We also included a drawer dishwasher. For the bar’s granite, we used Santa Cecilia 3CM.
