Country Creek Builders was finishing up a major home remodel on a home when we received a call from the Owens family regarding a major remodel for their Prior Lake home. The Owens had seen the Country Creek Builders trucks and vans right next door working on their neighbor’s house. After talking to their neighbors about their experience with Country Creek Builders, and seeing the work we had completed, they we were the right contractor for their major renovation.
A Great Design is the First Step
After meeting with the Owens to discuss their project and budget, Country Creek Builders started the design phase. This project would be a full home remodel including the kitchen, laundry room, family room, master bedroom and bath, powder bath, front entrance, new windows, adding a screened in porch and deck, adding a wet bar in the basement, installing an atrium door in the lower level, lower level guest bathroom, painting the exterior and adding new garage doors.
A Dream Kitchen
The Owens wanted the kitchen island long enough to seat a minimum of five people. Due to the width of the kitchen area, the island design needed to be 14 feet long in order to hold the number of guests that they desired. Due to the weight of the granite for the island, Country Creek Builders installed six 16-foot-long LVL beams under the floor in the kitchen. This ensured that there would not be any bounce in the kitchen floor or have any structure issues down the road. The ceiling in the home has a 14-foot vault, so it took some creative design work to create a hood vent that would look amazing. The kitchen cabinets have flat panel doors with #6 – #90 Cut, Dovetail drawer boxes with soft close slide, 3” cove molding and painted with Sherwin Williams Antique White. Biscotti White granite was selected for the kitchen. A special thanks to Del from Designed Cabinets for working with us on this amazing project.
The ceiling on the main level of the home is vaulted and has tongue and groove wood installed on it. The Country Creek Builders team custom built and installed cedar beams on the ceiling. The beams were stained to match the interior doors.
A Grand Entrance
The Owens wanted a front entrance that would welcome them home after a long day. The first step was to install a new front door with a transom glass. The door was stained to match the interior doors and beams. After several ideas on how to spruce up the entry way, Dave Drenckhahn and Nate Kane of Country Creek Builders designed and custom built a post and beam entry way. The design included a vault with tongue and grove wood installed on the underside, and black iron brackets and hardware were installed to finish off this amazing entry way.
A Larger Master Bath
The Owens wanted a large walk in shower, a soaking tub, and a vanity with two sinks in their master bath. The original master bath was too narrow to get everything that they wanted, so Country Creek Builders moved the bathroom wall into the oversized closet – creating the perfect size master bathroom. The master bathroom now had room for a large walk in shower with a bench area, the tub and vanity that they desired.
A Three Season Porch
The Owens had a deck that they were not able to use during the day due to the hot sun, and the bugs at night. Country Creek Builders removed the existing deck and built a 3-season porch. We Installed the EZ-Screens from Amazing EZ Screen in Minneapolis. This system transforms a standard porch into a 3 1/2″ season room. The homeowners can open and close sections of the porch with the EZ Screen porch windows. This system is amazing and should be a must on your porch!
A Basement for Views, Fun and Entertaining
After removing the white painted brick and unused fireplace, a new fireplace was installed with a stone surround. A walk-up bar was designed with Knotty Alder wood, Raised panel Doors #1-#25-#100 cut and stained to match the interior doors. A 12’ wide Marvin Scenic Bi-Fold patio door was installed to allow the Owens family to open up the basement for the perfect lake view and outside entertaining.
As you can see from this video, The Owens Project was a major remodeling project that turned out amazing.
