Remodeling Small Bathrooms

As anyone who’s ever been through it before knows, remodeling a small bathroom can be a pretty big deal. The trend is for bathrooms to get larger and more extravagant, but if you’re working with a small space it may be a little bit harder to get the features you want and need crammed into restricted area. Never fear though, even small bathrooms can be beautiful, functional, and easy to remodel if you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve.

When remodeling your small bathroom, replacing existing fixtures with ones that are slightly smaller than the industry standard can make a huge difference in the overall feel of the room. Almost any fixture can be ordered in a smaller size if you’re happy with the basic white model, but if you’re interested in something a little more unique specialty store show rooms are a great place to look. Though prices can run a little higher for custom made small fixtures, many are comparable to the standard size pricing and in the end will be worth it anyway.

Most standard sized bathtubs are about five feet long. Cutting down on this length is a great way to save space in your small bathroom and chances are you probably won’t even notice the difference that much. One thing to consider, however, is that it’s usually a good idea to add height to the bathtub walls if you’re going to cut down on length. This will help prevent splash-overs and make the tub more comfortable without taking up anymore room. If you don’t have room for a tub, standing showers are a great alternative. They can easily be custom designed and fitted even into the smallest corners of the room with minimal discomfort.

Many models of sinks and toilets are also designed with small bathroom owners in mind. There are many varieties of fashionable wall-hung sinks that take up minimal space and leave more room open underneath for other things. If you’re more interested in the traditional vanity sink, many models can be built with smaller cabinets and specialized proportions to fit into the tightest of spaces without giving up the big bathroom vanity feel. Toilets can be a little bit trickier to slim down, but in general almost any one piece toilet can give the illusion of being smaller when it is actually just about the same size as a standard two piece toilet and works just as well.

No matter how small your bathroom, County Creek Builders can help you make it the perfect fit for you and your home.
