The Additions Finishing and Design Process

Starting The Process For Your Addition

As with any project, the first step is to set an in-home consultation to discuss your addition and preview your home. This initial meeting is a chance for Country Creek Builders to listen and learn about your ideas and plans, but more importantly – it is a chance for you to get to know us. Together, we will look at your property for accessibility, property line locations and assess the existing roof lines. We will have an open conversation regarding your addition to understand your style and design requirements. We will also discuss and establish an initial budget for your project.

THE DESIGN – The Second Step

Country Creek Builders offers in-house design and drafting services to all of our clients.  We have learned, over the years, that our passion for building and attention to detail is best achieved when we design our own projects rather than hiring this service out to a third party. We are able to bring different building ideas to each project through our extensive experience, which is reflected in our creative, one-of-a-kind  designs.

Once the design has been completed, we will walk you through the entire scope of the project to ensure it captures your style and dream ideas for your home.

CONSTRUCTION – A Partnership to A Successful Addition

At Country Creek Builders, we understand that the construction process can be overwhelming.   We will walk you through the entire process to help put your mind at ease. Country Creek Builders utilizes the construction management system BUILDERTREND.  This system enables simple and secure communication between Country Creek Builders (the contractor) and you (the client). Once you have a BUILDERTREND login, you will have full access to your project’s construction schedule, and all documentation – including plans, drawings and selections.  This feature keeps you updated on your project timeline and helps to keep the project moving smoothly for all.

THE COUNTRY CREEK BUILDERS DIFFERENCE

Country Creek Builders takes pride in implementing a different approach with our home improvement projects. We embrace the concept of having full-time, company employees performing the work on your project from beginning to end, rather than hiring out to a third party.  From the Project Manager, Carpenters, and Finish (trim) Carpenters, to the Painters and Tile Experts – Country Creek Builders believes that having full-time employees gives us better control of the quality we expect, and the flexibility for scheduling every facet of your project in a timely manner.

When you are ready to add that much needed space to your home, Call Country Creek Builders to see the difference in our process.

Previous Projects

  • I contacted Dan from Country Creek Builders and two other contractors to estimate an addition for our home. Dan was the only contractor that showed up on time – and the only contractor that gave me a very detailed estimate. I had hired an architect to design the addition, and after reviewing the architectural plans with Dan – he pointed out some errors made on the plans – such as framing a new wall ... read moreagainst the existing foundation wall, the beam size for a large patio door, and not having an area in the plan for the new furnace that this addition would require. I was amazed that Dan was the only contractor that caught these errors made by the architect. The construction of our addition was well managed. Dan produced a schedule that was very close to the progress of the addition (a few days lost due to rain). We felt so comfortable with Dan and his crew – that we went on a two-week vacation – knowing that our project and our home was in good hands. Our addition consisted of a large family room, a kitchenet, a full bathroom and a hallway into the existing home. The quality and craftsmanship that Country Creek Builders brought to this project were amazing. I would recommend Country Creek Builders to anyone that was looking for a true professional in the construction field.

  • Dan and his crew are incredible to work with. I've hired Country Creek Builders for several projects and they just keep raising the bar for excellence. They have remodeled my kitchen, replaced all exterior windows and doors, designed and built 4-season porch, and designed and built wrap-around deck. Dan not only provided great service, but also provided design ideas such as adding a new outside door into the half bathroom which solved my concern regarding visitors ... read morecoming into the house with wet swim suits on. Dan was meticulous with the quoting process and provided line-item costs for materials and labor. Most contractors do not provide this, but Dan does it for every project. The whole company was great to work with and their attention to detail is unmatchede. Dan even helped me figure out what was wrong with my pool pump saving me the money of a service call. Country Creek Builders was extremely professional and my young children made friends with every member of Dan's team. I highly recommend Country Creek Builders if you're looking for a company with high integrity, quality, professionalism and value. I won't use anyone else for my future projects.

  • We had a fantastic experience with Country Creek Builders. We had them add a four season porch onto our home, as well as a basement bedroom underneath the porch. Dan, the owner, is very professional and knowledgeable about all aspects of the building process. From our very first meeting with him, we knew Country Creek Builders was the right one for this project. His employees are hardworking and friendly. As a stay at home ... read moremom with five kids, I felt very comfortable with each of them in our home as the project was underway. They truly take pride in what they do, and we were super happy with the level of detail and care they took in making sure this addition was just right. Besides his employees, the subcontractors he uses for HVAC electrical, excavation, sheetrock, etc. are all top notch as well. Dan stopped by regularly to check on the progress and always asked if we had any questions or concerns. He uses an app that keeps track of the project progress and it allows you to see what is scheduled to happen each day. Everyone always says to expect problems when you start a major home project like this, but we can truly say we had none. We are so thrilled with the finished product and look forward to using Country Creek Builders again for future renovations!

  • In the spring of 2015, I began the search for a builder that could design and build a handicap accessible addition to my home that would create a first floor leaving space for my mother.  I joined Angie’s List specifically to help me in the search process.  I interviewed several builders all with Super Service Awards and began reading the comments of previous customers looking for someone that had a successful experience with a ... read moreproject similar to the one I had in mind.   Daniel Drenckhahn’s approach to the project from the very first was different from the previous builders I had interviewed.  He listened to everything on my ‘wish list’ for the project and had ideas of on ways we could consider to reach each one.  Within a week I had a copy of the initial bid and we moved forward to design planning.  We spent 2-3 weeks working on design and were ready to submit the plans for city approval in late October.  We received approval the beginning of Thanksgiving week and therefore started the following Monday. This is the third time I have worked with a contractor on new construction and this was the least stressful experience I have ever had.  Let me give some specifics that made that a reality. Accurate detailed estimate – The detail and the specifics of the bid let me know exactly what I was paying for and options for changes.  When compared to the prices quoted by other builders Country Creek Builders was competitive and included details that other contractors did not know to consider. Subcontractors – A list of businesses and contact people was provided for each subcontractor I needed to visit to choose things like plumbing, cabinets, paint, counter tops and carpet etc.  I would introduce myself as working with Country Creek Builders and each subcontractor volunteered as we worked that they worked with a number of builders and if they needed work on their home they would call Country Creek. Standard of excellence – Every member of the building team worked tirelessly to maintain a level of excellence that shows in the finished product. We consistently get comments of the quality of the work completed. Routinely they would explain there were standards of the field, standards of the building codes. Country Creek standards routinely exceeded those required by both. Attention to detail – every subcontractor reviewed their work with Daniel Drenckhahn before ending their step in the process.  A member of the building team was present to review the work with each city inspection. Building permit – understood the process for Eagan and arranged everything from the initial building approval, periodic inspections and final inspection so that the approvals occurred within in a day or two of when needed and construction was not delayed. Maintained a clean job site- before leaving each day all debris for construction was removed.  No dumpster sat out in from of my house.  Each subcontractor was responsible for his own debris. Skill in workmanship- Every worker on the project was an expert at what they did. From digging the foundation, framing, installing tile, insolation, painting and staining, heating, counter tops or cabinets there is not a flaw.  When options were considered the advantages and disadvantages of each was explained. On time or early from day one – We started construction the Monday after Thanksgiving.  The crew arrived at sunup and worked to sundown until the project was completed.  They kept me informed daily of the building schedule, inspections and deliveries. Communication - I never had to ask for an update because by phone, in person or email they kept me informed.  We made continuous progress and the family conversation about the project went from ‘What are they going to do tomorrow?’ to ‘What did they do today?’  The teams list of completed worked was always longer than I thought they would accomplish in a day.  Every question about the project was answered or addressed promptly. Honesty, professionalism and determination to make the finished product the best it can be makes the decision to hire Country Creek Builders one of the best decisions you could make.

  • Like most homeowners, the prospect of any construction is terrifying, especially when you have to live in the house while it's ongoing. Thankfully, my experience was nothing like that because I was smart enough to hire Dan Drenckhahn and Country Creek Builders (CCB). Dan must have insight into every bad thing that people fear about construction, because he makes sure that he and his team do the exact opposite. My situation was uniquely challenging ... read morebecause I initiated this project while I lived in another state... If you've ever tried to modify a home you've never even set foot in, please take my advice and don't do it. Or if you do--get CCB to help! I will also say that on the spectrum of client temperaments, I'm probably pretty difficult because I have pretty high standards and pay attention to minute details. Fortunately, Dan has similar expectations of his team and the quality of his work -- I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Here's a breakdown of my experience... PRE-CONTRACT There are a number of reasons that I chose CCB. The first is Dan's immediate follow-up to my quote request, the second is his professionalism and communication style, the third is his timeliness. Within two weeks of our initial conversation, Dan visited my home site, took measurements, proposed some initial designs and provided a complete, line-item budget for the project. CCB was one of three firms that I contacted, but only two followed up, and ONLY Dan followed through with the level of detail I needed to make a decision. DURING THE PROJECT: Project Management -- In addition to my initial project, I had an *insane* number of smaller one-off projects that I needed assistance with because we needed to modify the home to suit my family's special needs. I also did some "design on the fly" changes because of what I saw when I was actually living in the space. Not only did Dan find a way to incorporate these tasks into our timeline (even those that popped up at the last minute), he was able to schedule his team to accommodate my family's needs and concerns while keeping the bigger project on track. Communication -- Beyond the Builder Trend timeline app, Dan was also in communication with me almost every day. I always knew exactly what was happening, what was going to happen next, and when I needed to make decisions to keep the project on track. Dan's son was my project manager and he was on site almost every day, while the rest of the team cycled through as needed. We were always treated with respect, both in the way we were spoken to and in what was communicated. For almost every single step and by almost every single contractor, I was asked if I was happy with the work that was being done. If something wasn't what I wanted, they didn't hesitate to fix it right away. Quality -- Without question, CCB holds themselves to a level of excellence that shows. From the team's workmanship to the quality of the materials to their followup on minor details -- this is a firm that does high quality work and stands by it. When making an investment of this size, it's also reassuring to know that if there's ever an issue, Dan and CCB will honor their warranty and resolve it to my satisfaction. Budget -- I eventually got a competitive bid before I contracted with CCB, so I do know that they are not the lowest priced firm out there; however, I can say with confidence that you get what you pay for. When you work with CCB, you're getting a higher quality of work, respectful/timely communication, and most importantly--peace of mind that you're being dealt with honestly and fairly. POST-PROJECT: Dan already sent his team out to fix two minor issues that occurred after we wrapped the project. Communication was quick, easy, and the problems were fixed in a timely fashion. Hooray for peace of mind! I wouldn't hesitate to work with Dan and CCB again--they helped make this new house a home for my family.

  • CCB is the best contractor I've ever worked with. Originally I hired them to remodel my kitchen, but after witnessing their attention to detail, I also hired them to replace all windows and doors in the house, install recessed lighting in living area, build 4 season porch and build a large deck. Working with Dan and his team was a pleasure. They are prompt and consistently communicated project status, next steps, and estimated completion ... read moredate. I highly recommend CCB for anyone looking for a high quality contractor for any type of remodeling.
