Country Creek Builders recently finished a full kitchen remodeling project in Lakeville, MN. The homeowners for this project wanted to expand their kitchen into the unused dining room area, giving them more countertop working area and storage options for their busy family lifestyle. This detailed kitchen project included adding hardwood floors to the family room, refinishing the existing hardwood floors in the kitchen, re-tiling the front entry, updating the existing 3 sided fireplace stone, adding a desk area, and constructing a furniture style buffet with glass uppers to display their stemware and wine bottles. Their existing kitchen also lacked a pantry storage area to store dry goods, and miscellaneous smaller appliances. This was an important feature that needed to be designed into the project.Once Country Creek Builders completed the design for the kitchen remodel and the homeowners signed off on it, final selections were made for appliances, cabinets, paint colors, granite counter tops, and tile for the splash.

Relocated HVAC and Plumbing

Plumbing for the sink had to be relocated to its new home in the center island. This involved cutting and removing the sub floor, re-working the plumbing drain and vent lines, and re-positioning the water supply lines. Country Creek Builders also had to move the old heat supply run and place it in the toe kick of the new island as well as add a gas line for the new gas cook top.

Upgraded Electric

The kitchen was completely re-wired for this project. Many new appliances were incorporated into the design. New circuits were added to accommodate:

  • Double oven
  • Gas cook top
  • Hood vent
  • Below the counter microwave (located the island cabinets)
  • Under cabinet lights for all the upper cabinets and accent puck lights in the upper cabinets for the buffet

Cabinets

The perimeter cabinets for this kitchen were painted with Benjamin More White Dove and the island cabinets were painted with Sherwin Williams Warm Stone. The cabinet hardware selected was Amerock oil rubbed bronze knobs for the doors and oil rubbed bronze pulls for the drawers. Clear glass was used for the upper cabinet doors on the buffet. Soft close hinges and soft close drawers where a must for this project.

Countertops

The countertop selected for this project was “Ganashe” granite from Credit River Granite in Burnsville. A Legno Travertine 4 X 16 tile was selected to compliment the Ganashe granite and to bring a warm grey feel to the kitchen.

Walls

The walls were painted with Sherwin Williams Anew Grey. A custom stain was mixed for the oak floors in the kitchen and family room, and a Rubio Monocoat finish was applied to give the floor the durability desired by the homeowner.

Accessories and Essentials

Changing out the old oak base was a must for this project. Country Creek Builders installed a 5 ¼” tall paint grade base throughout the kitchen and family room area. The base was painted to match the perimeter cabinets.A Mirabelle “Calverton” undermount double bowl sink was selected for this kitchen, and a Delta “Mateo” pull out sprayer faucet was installed to finish off the island. The three-sided fireplace was updated by installing Fond Du Lac Ledgestone and topped off with an Indiana Limestone custom hearth piece. For information on how Country Creek Builders can design a smarter kitchen for you, contact us.
